Spring cleaning isn’t exciting for most of us. But it should be done. As the holidays and winter near an end and we start looking forward to spring, something inside of us pushes us to get our homes in order by cleaning, organizing and purging things we’ve piled up throughout the winter months.
But who says spring cleaning is only for the inside of your home?
The exterior of your home could probably use a little tidying up after a cold, wet winter, too!
It’s Time For Home Exterior Cleaning
Here are home exterior cleaning projects that will really improve the appearance of your home in Chino, and, even more important, will offer much-needed care and maintenance that will save you a lot of money over the years to come.
1. Gutter Cleaning
Spring is the best time to clean out your gutters, since a lot of leaves and debris collect in the fall and winter months. Pollen is at its highest in spring, making a big mess in your gutters and downspouts if they are not properly cleaned.
Plus, pests and animals are scavenging for places to build their homes in spring, so having your gutters cleaned out will help to prevent an infestation in your home.
Gutter cleaning consists of cleaning the inside of your gutters, removing mold, mildew and rust stains and returning them to a like-new appearance.
2. Window Cleaning
Home window cleaning is essential for spring cleaning. First floor windows shouldn’t cause you much of an issue, but any second and third floor windows can be a bit tougher to reach.
Cleaning windows by hand is a tiring chore, and will require a lot of supplies, not to mention climbing up and down a ladder! A soft wash or professional cleaning of your home’s windows is the recommended solution to get the panes and the outer frame clean.
3. Pressure Washing
You do not want clean gutters and clean windows on a dirty home. That means you are going to want to pressure wash your home too!
Pressure washing is quick, effective and affordable. You can clean your home, outdoor furniture, patios, porches and walkways with not much effort. It will eliminate dirt and mud so they won’t permanently stain your home, and you can also prevent the spread of mold, mildew and allergens.
4. Driveway Cleaning
Clearing off your driveway and giving it a good cleaning may seem silly since you will still be driving on it, but, a clean, well-cared for driveway can increase the curb appeal of your home.
A professional pressure washing service can do wonders for driveway cleaning, whether it is concrete, asphalt, stone or another material. Also consider adding a gravel or mulch border to your driveway to really help it pop!
5. Patio Cleaning
Your patio gets the most use in the summer months, so it’s easy to overlook it in the winter when you are not doing as much outdoor entertaining, relaxing or grilling. Your patio could be in pretty rough condition the first time you step onto it in spring.
Soap and water – and a little elbow grease – can sometimes be enough for patio cleaning, but if you see signs of mold or mildew, you might need to consider a more serious option, like professional power washing, to ensure that friends and family can safely enjoy your patio all summer.
6. Roof Cleaning
Mold and moss are typical roof issues in Chino. While you’re cleaning the exterior of your home, it is a great time to clean your roof as well, but you will have to use a different process than the one you use for the rest of your home’s exterior.
If you start to see streaks on your roof, algae is most likely the cause. Moss is typically obvious, too. These contaminants can’t be scrubbed off shingles, nor can you pressure wash the roof. Both of these methods will destroy the shingles on your roof.
The ideal method for roof cleaning is to spray the shingles with a half-water, half-bleach mixture and let it be. This will kill all organic organisms on your roof without reducing its lifespan.
7. Spruce up the Front
The front of your home is probably what most people passing by see, so make the best impression possible for visitors, neighbors and for yourself! Coming home to a well-maintained exterior will immediately improve your day, and will even motivate you to spend a lot more time outdoors.
Clean your front porch with soap and water or a good pressure wash. Wipe cobwebs and dirt off of the front door, and consider painting it a new color for a fresh look! Clean unnoticed areas like the porch ceiling, light fixtures and ceiling fans, too.
8. Organize Garden Tools
You will soon be spending a lot more time outdoors, so spring is a wonderful opportunity to organize whatever you will need for outdoor chores.
Gardening tools as well as pool care equipment should all have a specific place outside your home – somewhere that it is safe from harsh weather and out of sight so it isn’t a constant eyesore. Spending the time to organize in the spring will allow you to enjoy the exterior of your home much more during the time of year when you are going to spend the most time outdoors.
9. Lawn Care & Landscaping
Your yard, trees and bushes make a huge impact on the overall look of your home.
Remove weeds around your flower beds and walkways and driveway, till up places where you will be planting in the future and sweep off walkways. You can also spray pre-emergent weed killer to make yard maintenance easier on yourself throughout the next few months. Trim all bushes too.
10. Clean the Grill
After being unused for several months, your grill could use a good cleaning, too. Leftover grease and food particles from your grill are unappetizing, but even worse they can also make you and your family ill.
Wet it down to get rid of ash, then scrub the grates with a plastic scrubber or grill brush (so you don’t leave behind particles that can get into food) and a basic detergent or degreaser.
You can probably finish these projects over the course of a few weekends but it is going to be a lot of hard work. Instead, give us a call! Chino Pressure Washing offers professional home exterior cleaning services for patio cleaning, roof cleaning, driveway cleaning, pressure washing and more!
